Does ultrasonic cavitation tighten skin? The short answer is no. Ultrasonic Cavitation doesn’t tighten skin. It is used for a different purpose, which is to remove fat under the skin.

To further explain why the procedure doesn’t do that, let us take a closer look at what ultrasonic cavitation really does to the body. We’ll also discuss what can tighten the skin and the reason why some people might think ultrasonic cavitation can do that.

    What Does Ultrasonic Cavitation Do?
The process of ultrasonic cavitation is shown in the above image of the Dermapeel Beauty Machine in use.

Ultrasonic Cavitation targets fat under the skin and gets rid of it by using ultrasound technology. With this procedure, the fat deposits are broken down due to exposure to the ultrasound. However, other parts of the body like the skin are not affected by it.

When the fat deposits are broken apart, they will be reabsorbed by the body and used for energy.

The excess will be excreted out of the body. Some toxins may also be excreated along the process.

Many people love this procedure because it doesn’t require any incision. It is also not painful although some might feel a little discomfort due to the buzzing of the machine.

Patients can also feel the warmth but it isn’t hot enough to significantly heat-up the skin to produce collagen that could help in the skin tightening.

It can be done at a medispa, but it is also done at home. All of these aspects make it super appealing!

Does Ultrasonic Cavitation Tighten Skin? No, It Doesn’t.
As we’ve said, most people will feel a bit of warmth in the area being treated. Some people think that this could help with the production of collagen to help tighten the skin, similar to how the Tria Age-Defying Laser works.

However, cavitation does not do this.

The warmth produced in the treatment procedure isn’t enough to heat up the tissues that would produce the collagen.

Some people may confuse ultrasonic cavitation with other procedures that similar technologies to tighten skin. One such procedure is called Ultherapy, and another is Radio Frequency Skin Tightening.

Ultrasonic cavitation, RF Skin tightening, and Ultherapy are different procedures though they all use similar sound technology. They also have different targets, frequencies, and different uses.

With ultrasonic cavitation, the target is to liquefy the fat so that it can be removed. This treatment is usually used for areas on the body.

As for Ultherapy, the target is the deeper layers of the skin. That area is where collagen is usually produced. By stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, the skin could be firmer, less sagging, and with fewer wrinkles.

That gives the skin a tighter appearance. This treatment is also usually done on the face.

    How Can You Tighten Skin?

Skin is naturally elastic so it would naturally tighten if there is no need to stretch it. IF you’ve lost fat, the skin can tighten gradually with the help of collagen and elastin. These two substances help the skin to be firmer and less saggy.

However, due to the natural aging process, older people do not produce as much collagen and elastin as they used to.

This is why the skin of a younger woman looks tighter than an older one.

However, there are several ways you can stimulate the skin to produce more collagen such as the following:

    Improve Your Diet
One of the most common reasons why people don’t produce enough collagen is because they don’t eat enough nutrients to produce them. Your body needs amino acids that are present in protein-rich foods. Dairy products, beef, fish, chicken, eggs, beans, and many others are good sources of protein.

Collagen production also requires copper, Vitamin C and zinc so you need to provide it. Such can be found on citrus fruits, tomatoes, greens, broccoli, red and green peppers, etc. Essentially, you need to have a healthy diet to produce it naturally.

    Take Collagen Supplements
    Collagen Supplements
Collagen supplements are readily available in the market today as hydrolyzed collagen. They can come in powder form and are not flavored. You can mix them easily with your beverages, sauces, or soups.

    LED Red Light Therapy
In red light therapy, red light is used to reach the fibroblasts. The fibroblasts are the cells that produce collagen and elastin. By stimulating these cells, an increase in the production of collagen and elastin is observed. This helps plump up and tighten the skin.

The Rika light therapy device is an excellent example of this type of treatment, but other devices such as light therapy masks are effective as well.

    Laser Treatments
    Tria Smooth Beauty
Similar to LED red light therapy are laser treatments because they also use light energy. However, lasers use much higher energy as compared to LED red light therapy. This intense beam of light is used on the skin will cause a controlled injury on the skin.

The Tria Smooth Beauty Laser is a great example of one such device.

With it, the skin is essentially forced to resurface with newer cells. Additionally, the light from the laser treatments also goes to the deeper layers of the skin to heat it up. That heat will also stimulate the production of collagen.
